Recently the issue of YRUU's age range came up on a YRUU related forum. This issue - the question of what is an appropriate age range for youth to be able to attend district events, conferences, and youth group - is probably the most discussed and debated issue in the history of YRUU. Having taken part in this discussion more times then I can even remember, I decided to offer a post with a bit of history of the current age range, along with some of my own thoughts on the topic. Here is a copy of that post.

Somebody I met recently described the Unitarian Universalist Church as a
place that welcomes Christians, Jews, Agnostics, and even a German
Shepherd or two. He was trying to be funny, and I laughed. But behind
his remarks was an unwarrented assumption - that anybody can get in
here. And behind that myth is another one: that we don't stand for
anything.
