Welcome!
Welcome to YRUUSpider.com! I have
created this site out of a desire to be able to offer archival YRUU
information online. At the moment this site contains archives of The
Spider, Youth Advisory, old Youth Council and Steering Committee
meeting minutes, some old flyers for events, and some resources which
have been published in the past, but are now no longer available. While
this site offers information and resources which have previously been
produced by the UUA YRUU Youth Office, this site is independ
of the UUA. You are likely to find resources and material on this site
which is not available on the UUA's YRUU website!
In the
future I'd like to be able to offer more content. If you have an idea
for material that you think would be worthwhile to put on this site, let me know! I'd love to hear from you!
About the site administrator
My name is Lorne Tyndale and I am a lifelong Unitarian Universalist. I became involved in my local YRUU group in the Unitarian Church of Calgary - Calgary, Alberta Canada back in 1989. From September 1990 through February 1993 I served as the Youth Council Representative for the Western Canada District of the UUA. From September 1993 through August 1994 I was priveledged to be the 23rd YRUU Programmes Specialist at the UUA Youth Office in Boston, MA.
To
me a significant aspect of youth empowerment in YRUU can come through
knowing and understanding YRUU's history. As a part of this I have
always had in interest in preserving YRUU's history and doing what I
can to make that history available to UU youth everywhere. In the past
these efforts have included offering the first continental YRUU website
(YRUU on the Web! - initially put online in February
1996, taken offline in 2000), the first online version of the Youth
Council Resolutions Archive, the SCOYP report, the Common Ground 1 and
2 reports, and the 5 year review of YRUU programming.
With
YRUUSpider.com I have started to scan my own personal collection of
YRUU archives to make them available here. I am happy to be able to
offer this material to YRUU.
If you have any questions, or if you have material you'd like to add to this archive, please feel free to contact me!
